Increased globalisation in recent years has seen a number of high profile mergers between law firms both nationally and internationally. The result of which has created a wealth of opportunity for qualified legal professionals to ply their trade and gain invaluable experience living and working overseas.

Despite laws differing from nation to nation, the nature of the work that lawyers and other legal professionals will be expected to do will be similar to what they are already familiar with at home.

And because the skills learned in one country can easily be transferred to others, it is not uncommon to see some practitioners continue their careers in other countries.

The strongest appetite for legal practitioners can be found in several jurisdictions, including Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo in particular), Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East (namely Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia) and Europe (UK, Belgium and France).

Within these regions, there is strong demand for lawyers with experience across a range of sectors, including corporate, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, energy, construction, shipping, and banking and finance.
